If so, perhaps you would consider making a small contribution towards our costs. THE ABOVE PRAYERS ARE FOR TUESDAY, FEBRUFEAST OF ST BRIGID SECONDARY PATRON OF IRELAND We ask this through Christ, our Lord, Amen. Lord, we ask that you hear our prayers and with the coming of Spring you grant us new life and hope through faith in your infinite love and generosity. We pray for a greater recognition of the role of women in the Church and that the very special talents they bring can be fruitful in spreading the message of Christ, Our Saviour.Īs we mark today the first day of Spring, we renew our hope and pray for the grace to encourage all whom we meet today. We pray for all those who like St Brigid have dedicated their lives to feeding the hungry in our society, to housing the homeless, caring for the abandoned and bringing comfort to the sick. We pray that the mantle of her peace cover those in our world today who a r e troubled and anxio u s. St Brigid was a women of peace who brought harmony where there was conflict. Lord Jesus, you gave St Brigid the desire to serve and not be served – may we spend our lives in the service of others. We pray for the grace to listen to his word so that we may reap the reward of eternal life which he so clearly promises. In today’s Gospel, Jesus encourages us to love, to be generous and to be forgiving. THE ABOVE PRAYERS ARE FOR SUNDAY, JANUFOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME įEAST OF ST BRIGID, SECONDARY PATRON OF IRELANDĪs we celebrate the Feast of Brigid, your loyal servant, we come to you Father and ask that you hear our prayers. Lord, we ask that you hear our prayers and grant us new life and hope through faith in your infinite love and generosity. We bow our heads and remember in silence our own personal intentions and the intentions of those who have asked for our prayers. We pray also for those chosen to care for them that they may be truly committed to their vocation and blessed with the power of healing and the gift of love and compassion. We pray for all children who suffer from physical, emotional and mental illness that they may receive the love, care and medical treatment which as children of God they so richly deserve. We pray with Pope Francis for true human fraternity and for those suffering from religious, racial and sexual discrimination, that their rights and dignity be recognised as brothers and sisters in God’s human family. We pray for an end to hostility and aggression among the powerful nations of the world, so that love can prevail and all peoples can live in peace and harmony. On Tuesday next, February 1st, as we celebrate the Feast of St Brigid, Ireland’s second most revered saint, we pray that the role of women in our Church be truly recognised We pray to the Lord for the grace to embrace true love in our lives in everything we do. In today’s Second Reading, St Paul talks to us about the importance of Love it is always patient and kind, never jealous, never rude or selfish never boastful or conceited always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope. We pray today that we do not reject him but open up our hearts and minds to God’s message and make it an essential part of our daily lives. In today’s gospel, we hear how the people of Nazareth were unwilling to listen to Jesus in the synagogue and rejected him. Guided by Christ’s words, we come to you Father and ask that you hear our prayers.
